The day our Airstream arrived

It all started with a text from Andy’s friend that said something along the lines of “You guys need this for Oshkosh Airventure” with pictures of an Airstream. We are an aviation family and have gone to Oshkosh Airventure almost every year… even when the kids were just weeks old. We’ve camped in tents though. Little did Andy know that I have always loved Airstreams. When he jokingly showed me the text message from his friend and asked if we should buy it, I non-jokingly said “absolutely!”. Andy was taken aback. He has always loved Airstreams as well, but it wasn’t something we’ve ever considered buying. We had two small airplanes to travel in. Why would we need a camper too? Well… when we heard the reason why it was being sold and the price, we couldn’t resist. We purchased it and had it delivered to us in PA from MI. It was so exciting the day it arrived! It looked beautiful on the outside. We knew it wouldn’t be perfect. It is a 1978 Airstream Sovereign. Our plan was to deep clean the inside and use it right away on a few weekend camping trips. Well, that’s where the fun began…
