“Honey, I’m going outside to vacuum Strut”

So, I truly did have full intentions of deep cleaning, vacuuming, scrubbing, washing everything inside our new Airstream… that is until my foot found a soft spot in the floor where I stepped. I did a little investigating and noticed the carpet right below the rear window was dark. It definitely had water coming in through the window at some point and the subfloor underneath was soft. I pulled the carpet up in that area to look underneath and sure enough there was damage to the floor beneath. I found a couple more soft areas in the floor and decided that we were not taking this thing camping as is.

One thing led to another and before I knew it there was a pile of wood and carpet and curtains and pretty much the entire back bedroom was in our driveway. Then Andy walks outside and sees the pile… uh oh!

He stayed calm and said very politely “I thought you were just cleaning?”. I showed him the floor and all the grossness in there. He just shook his head knowing this was going to be a lot of work ahead of us, but he didn’t disagree that it was pretty gross in there. We ended up gutting Strut all the way to it’s bare bones.
