Gutting the “family room”
I endearingly refer to this space in Strut as the “family room”. Just like in a house, it’s the area where we can all sit down together and talk, play games, read, and watch a movie. This will be the most used space in the Airstream, so we want it to be comfy and open. Let the demo begin!
This room was fairly easy to disassemble. Most everything was bolted to the floor and all the curtain rods were riveted to the wall. I pulled all the carpet staple out and that was it. The amount of rivets that were not attached to anything behind and the holes in the wall that had no rivet in them was a bit frustrating, but that was something we would deal with later on. We’re getting close to having all the furniture / cabinetry out and seeing a wide open space. Feels good to clean it all out so we could build from scratch, but I had no idea the amount of work that was ahead of us.
